The author shares her reflections on the role of books in the life of contemporary middle school students and their teachers. According to the author, the empirical research identifies that middleschool students do not read books at all, except for required reading. Nowadays for many people, the Internet has been replacing books. Surfing the Internet, browsing electronic texts and identifying with electronic heroes seem so fascinating and exciting that the importance of reading books has decreased considerably. Moreover, there has been a growing concern that reading culture among the teachers has waned significantly. Although they aren’t considered digital natives, they do not show too much interest in books.

The article presents the didactic principles of using interactive methods of teaching pupils in the process of studying biology and chemistry. The main characteristics of interactive learning in general education institutions of Ukraine are examined on the basis of theoretical and empirical studies. The conditions that provide the effectiveness of interactive teaching methods are formulated. The peculiarities of using the interactive teaching methods while studying the school subjects of natural cycle are considered. Main attention is drawn to the interactive methods of projects and studying of disputable issues. The use of interactive whiteboard of Smart Board during the lessons of biology and chemistry is accented.

The article concerns the role of new technologies in education and interconnected e-learning as analternative to traditional education. Moreover, based on world research, it was demonstrated how varied can the approach to defining e-learning be with regard to the manner of delivering the resources of knowledge and communication, personalization of education of educational paradigms.This was the background for exemplary educational models in e-learning. There was an original model for the learning process management described, the essence of which is cooperation of two main processes and four sub-processes. A conclusion was suggested that skillful management of the learning process, through well-thought organization and preparation of the teaching-learning process, its evaluation and response to changes may be reflected in high effectiveness in education of students.

Intercultural Competence Formation of ESL Teachers in a Global Educational Environment

High School Graduates and Academic Education: What do They Expect?

This paper treats the problem of personal goals of high schools in Serbia regarding choice of university as a next step in professional life. We have investigated personal traits of respondents, their attitudes towards education as such, their criteria of selecting an university and their expectations of the future. Questionnaire-based survey has been used, data was statistically analysed and then discusses. What we have found is that generation of high-school graduates surveyed expresses goals and attitudes of such a features that could be titled as pseudo-conservative.

Analysis of Personnel Potential from the Perspective of Relationship of the Young Towards Studying

In this study we present an attitude of the young towards studying, values in the society and development of personal career. The study had the goal to define the manner of analysing labour market, value categories and perspective from the angle of university students from Vojvodina. The results of this study point to the fact that the students are aware of the economic situation in Serbia, as well as the problems on labour market. Respondents have expressed the willingness for leaving abroad in order to provide for their existance. They are aware of the knowledge and skills they possess and, in equal percent, pros and cons of reorientation on a particular craft in order to initiate own business. Information of the young in the aspect of trends on labour market, as well as problems in the aspect of employment, significantly affects their choices and orientation on developed and systematically regulated countries. Results of the research confirm previous studies of the same problems and impose the need for finding certain long-term solution in order to keep the young people and establish a good balance on labour market.

Социодемографски портрет студента – будућег васпитача у Србији

This paper presents an empirical study with the objective to examine the sociodemographic characteristics of the students of applied and academic studies that educate future preschool teachers. The aim of the study was to determine the sociodemographic characteristics of students, future teachers: sex, place of origin, education of parents, parental occupation, hereditary occupational tendencies interest in the family, source of funding your studies, the type of secondary school and the average mark in previous education. The results of the research of sociodemographic characteristics show that most of the students are female, that usually originate from small and medium-sized cities, and whose parents in a small percentage have a university degree. Also, the parents' occupation analysis showed that the preschool teacher occupation is usually chosen by the students who come from families of lower socioeconomic status in which the benefits are lower than the average, and that one-fifth of the students come from families in which someone already works as a teacher. The research findings showed that most students come with completed medical school or grammar school and the average success over 4.0.

Mišljenje nastavnika, roditelja i studenata pedagogije o modelu školovanja dece kod kuće

Following educational trends in the Western countries and the analysis of the situation in our education, in recent years the subject of debates in our area have been the possibilities of organizing education in family conditions. Considering that the education of children at home is legally regulated in a number of European countries, and that in the United States it has a decades-long tradition, the subject of this paper is to consider the assumptions of development of this educational model in Serbia. For this purpose, a brief empirical research was conducted related to the examination of opinions of teachers, parents and future expert associates – pedagogues on the model of homeschooling of children. The applied instrument was designed for the needs of wider research, with a sample of 441 subjects. The results show that the majority of respondents do not support homeschooling, where the students of pedagogy expressed a negative attitude towards this model of education to a lesser extent than teachers and parents. Finding that the students of pedagogy, who receive knowledge related to the alternatives in education during their studies, have a somewhat more positive opinion about homeschooling, implies that higher pedagogical culture and knowledge of alternatives in the field of education can lead to greater openness when it comes to this model of education. According to this, the question arises as to whether learning about examples of good homeschooling education from other countries, as well as providing adequate state support, appropriate materials and curricula for this model of education, will contribute to wider acceptance of this model of education in our society. In any case, it is not desirable to reject novelties that are in line with fundamental human rights and can provide benefits in the field of education. It is only necessary to develop systematic support and adequately administer the control system which will allow parents to provide education under different circumstances that will contribute to the general welfare of children.

Adaptation and Evaluation of the Bulgarian Version of Health Education Impact Questionnaire (heiQ-BG) for the Evaluation of Self-Management Education Interventions

The translation was carried out according to international standards. Comprehensibility, content validity and factorial validity were tested. The items of heiQ-BG were well understood; the structure of the eight scales were replicated. Further studies involving its practical application are warranted.

Интеркултурална перспектива школа у Србији

Starting from the current role of school in preparing students for life in a socially and culturally diverse world, this paper points out the need to change the paradigm towards an open constructivist curriculum and new learning strategies in the implementation of the concept of interculturality in the school context. Special attention has been devoted to developing intercultural competences of both students and teachers starting from the changes in the school culture, constructivist, contextual and integrated approach in viewing multicultural contents and activities. The paper presents two examples of the implementation of this concept which were created within the second component of the project entitled “The Support to Human Capital Development and Research – General Education and Human Capital Development – Razvionica” in schools in Serbia. The summary provides an outline of the pedagogical measures for supporting intercultural education, including the role of developing the school culture in that process.

Emancipacija mladih sa alternativnog staranja – izazovi i šanse

Young people who are preparing to leave alternative care to independence face numerous challenges. However, a number of youth were able to over come difficulties and these young people achieve a stable environment arragements. The research is part of a larger study and findings from the focus groups will be presented. There were five focus groups which involved 26 young people in care (kinship, foster and residential). data collection is in a function of a closer consideration of the ways in which young people participate in pla nning how to understand their part in this process, what are their fears and challenges, but also sources of support that are available to them during the process of preparation for emancipation. Despite the fact that most young people in the sample estimated to possess the skills of taking care of themselfs, the youth still experience lack of support and lack of readiness for leaving care. These findings suggest the need for a timely preparation for independence, which focuses work on the life story to strengthen the faith in their own abilities.

КОМПАРАТИВНА АНАЛИЗА МОДЕЛА НАСТАВЕ У ПРИРОДИ У СРБИЈИ И СКАНДИНАВСКИМ ЗЕМЉАМА

Outdoor education is a specific educational form that involves the continuous realization of the teaching and learning process throughout the school year, in a natural environment, where such an environment would be used as an incentive and direct source of knowledge for teaching, as well as a pleasant environment for the psychophysical development of students. The aim of this paper is to look at how outdoor education is determined in Serbia – starting with legal regulations, relevant professional and scientific literature, and through the comparative analysis of existing theory and practices in Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden and Denmark), and to try to identify potential opportunities of improving realization of outdoor education in Serbia. The results show that outdoor education in Serbia is viewed within the meaning of the term schools in nature, where the realization of teaching is outside the place of residence of students and teachers and lasts for 7 to 10 days a year, with no reference to the possibility of realization of outdoor education continuously during the school year. Through the analysis of the Scandinavian model of outdoor education, we note that in Norway, Sweden and Denmark there is a long-standing research tradition of this problematic. As the basic recommendations from the comparative literature review, we emphasize that it is necessary to reconsider the approach of outdoor education at the theoretical level and also to conduct more research in this field, the results of which would help to improve outdoor education at all levels. Also, it is necessary to examine the possibility for the school curriculum to anticipate a more frequent realization of outdoor education throughout the school year, to explore opportunities to offer solutions at the system level and to provide financial and professional support to schools and teachers.

The Vision of Hermeneutic Interpretation upon the Skiers' Gestures

The meaning of the mental visualization of the skier’s gestures contributes to a more accurate focusing on the representation of the route. Thus, there is an interpretation derived from the skier's performance gestures, analysed quite deeply through hermeneutical interpretation. Starting from the simple basic gestures, as component parts of the movement as a whole, we will analyse and interpret, in terms of hermeneutics, their knowledge of these interpretations and implications in achieving sporting performance. The impact and implication in terms of multidisciplinary shape generates also finalities with major role in differentiating gestures that athlete playing under stress, maximum concentration and accumulation fatigue. In this work in extenso, we intend to argue these allegations and to interpret by hermeneutics nuances the skier performance gestures.

Parameters of Basic Science Test Item’s of 2011 Basic Education Certificate Examination Using Item Response Theory (IRT) Approach in Delta State, Nigeria

This study determined the psychometric properties of the examination items in 2011 Basic Education Certificate Examination for Basic Science. The design adopted was survey research design. The instrument for data collection was the 2011 Delta State Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Basic Science Multiple Choice Test Items. The IRT model for item selection was used to determine the estimates of the item parameters. The findings of the study revealed that 45, 45 and 40 items satisfied the IRT difficulty, discrimination and guessing parameter respectively. While 38 items satisfied the combined three IRT parameter estimates. This result revealed a significant difference in the number of the selected items that satisfied all three IRT parameter estimates in BECE Basic Science.
