Summary/Abstract: The texts refer to the trend in historiography called global history. They show its basic postulates, such as departure from the Eurocentric narrative, but at the same time express concerns whether such new trends, sometimes superficial and ideologically tinged, will not lead to the collapse of the principles of the historian's reliable scientific workshop. The essays were originally published in the French series La Vie des idées. In the Polish edition an essay by the Polish historian Jerzy Pysiak was added.
