Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the findings of a survey with practicing EFL teachers about different aspects of developing students' speaking skills. Some of the issues discussed involve: time spent on speaking activities in class; students’ and teachers’ problems with speaking; the ratio between accuracy and fluency, communicative and non-communicative tasks, as well as issues related to teacher perception of the usefulness of different activities and the preparation they need to do.
