Summary/Abstract: The article deals with social inequality and its impact on social cohesion. It highlights the major approaches to understanding social inequality. Analyzed main indicators of the inequality in Ukraine: the Gini index, the ratio of income between rich and poor, the percentage of poverty. A comparison of these indicators with those of the European countries and the main reasons for a considerable inequality in Ukrainian society.
