Summary/Abstract: A successive part of the series on the homes of artists – especially those from the nineteenth century. This time the protagonist is Lamartine and his chateau-retreat Monceau. This residence is particularly interesting in contrast with the poet’s other homes as an alternative seat or at least to a considerable extent deprived of the elementary functions of a home because it was created probably for the purpose of a single function – meditation and creation.
